The APPA's
What are the APPA's?
It is Australia's most prestigious and recognised professional photography competition. Run as part of the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers (AIPP), the APPA's are the Australian Professional Photography Awards. It all sounds a little scary right? Well it is...
As a photographer or in any industry, to be recognised by your peers is one of the most rewarding experiences you could have. To have them commend you on your work is even better!
Photographers are invited to enter a number of prints into the annual competition. Emerging members, which I am, are able to enter three prints. Entries are then subject to three intense days of judging by Australia's most recognised photographers. Each entry is then scored via a scrupulous peer-review judging process and each print is given a score out of a possible 100.
Sounds even scarier now right?
So for me to actually find the courage to go ahead and enter prints into THE biggest comp in the country was a pretty big deal but in order to gain experience and hopefully get some feedback, I jumped in head first!
Well, after three days of the worst nerves I have ever suffered I have emerged victorious!
So thank you to all those who pushed me to try, to the friends and clients that are featured in the winning images, to 'Framed by Tracey' at Malua Bay for her beautiful competition mounting and to all my friends for their support. Without you I couldn't have done it.
Here are my results:
Category: Landscape
Award: Silver with distinction!

Category: Portrait
Award: Silver

Category: Family
Award: Silver

Three from three and I am over the moon. :)
