Meeting Kinwah

There are a handful of moments in life that we will never forget.
Generally they are big events, sometimes followed by celebrations and plenty of hoorah. However, now and then we fall into a moment that is beyond amazing, it may be a small piece of our lives but big enough to truly move us.

We are lucky enough to live near the best little zoo I have ever come across. Mogo Zoo is a fantastic, privately owned zoo committed to the survival of endangered animals, has run many successful captive breeding programs and has a collection of the happiest most vocal animals.

One of their own furry babies is Kinwah, a ten month old Tiger who we had the absolute honour of meeting on Monday.
Kinwah was born at the zoo and has been raised by a lovely man, Clive. He explained to us that Tigers in captivity will generally bond with one person and that he was that person for Kinwah. Their relationship was amazing to watch, Clive didn't hesitate to rough Kinwah around, putting his head in close to his, as you would a pet cat.
Being ten months old Kinwah hasn't hit puberty just yet, once he does, which will be soon, he may become less friendly and his natural instincts will take over meaning Clive may have to be a lot more careful around him. Lucky for us he wasn't too old to meet people he doesn't recognise and we were able to share in this wonderful experience.
It will be something we never forget and we want to thank Sally, Clive and John for all they did for us on Monday. We will never forget the experience you gave us and the experience you give every family that walks through your gates. Thank you for all your hard work.

Now...allow me to introduce you to Kinwah.

Did you know that Tigers have six sets of whiskers. One of those sets is found on their front legs, these whiskers are so sensitive they can detect a heartbeat! They use them to determine the moment their preys heart stops beating! AMAZING!

Have you ever been close enough to a tiger to notice the tiny little white hairs around his nose?

or perhaps that he has a bit of fluff caught between his toes?

Life is tough....

I love how it's just chilling on a giant dog-bed, like it's a normal thing for a tiger to do lol.

Great shots, what an experience :)
